What’s My Biological Age Again?

Turning back the clock on your biological age is no longer just an overdone plot twist in a basic science fiction novel. Astonishingly, we now have evidence of people reversing their internal age through healthy lifestyle choices and supplements. This is a ground-breaking discovery and brings so much hope for the medical community.

When discussing the subject of humanity having a longer lifespan, I get bombarded with arguments like: “if the old are living longer, won’t they hoard money and not give anything back to the community”, “won’t they cost the healthcare system billions and burden their younger relatives”. Contrary to popular belief, when the children of today reach their 60’s, they most likely won’t be old and decrepit, they will be more mobile and alert. Longevity research is helping us extend the healthiest years of our lives. It will not be dragging out our suffering by medicating and masking the pain of preventable diseases, until it becomes too overwhelming for our bodies to cope with (which is what is happening now). By the time we are “old”, we will be able to go out and spend money, continue working if we want to. We won’t need government funding, charity work and nauseating tax hikes to treat cancer and cardiovascular diseases. We simply will not be suffering with these ailments half as much as we are now, if at all.

Bio-Markers

Individually, we all need to implement unique lifestyle changes or even small tweaks to revive and replenish our DNA. For some, that can be a very intimidating and overwhelming task; however, there is hope. There are various newly established companies in the USA and eventually worldwide that can monitor and test your health levels and vital biological functions. These research labs can even give you a thorough guide to follow and improve your health, reversing your internal age. This is the first baby step to a humongous change in our civilisation. If we can withstand the recent and further economical struggles (thanks a bunch, Putin), we have a very exciting and promising future ahead of us.

Depending on which field of science you are researching, bio-markers are the easiest way to pinpoint and analyse your progress to becoming healthier. As longevity is my field, the most relevant description from the International Labor Organization, states bio-markers as “any substance, structure, or process that can be measured in the body or its products and influence or predict the incidence of outcome or disease”. To put it simply and in the context of Longevity, it’s to test your body in various ways to see if you are functioning optimally, this is by comparing your results to the average stats of different age groups.

Examples of these bio-marker tests are measuring your pulse, taking mouth swabs and blood samples. Just these three methods alone can test over 50 different bio-markers. This is also a popular testing method used to analyse the severity or type of cancer people have, and even help plan treatments for sufferers of PCOS and endometriosis. This is mainly to accommodate for the individuals’ required lifestyle changes and medications. It’s one of the most accurate and effective testing methods to date.

How Do I Test My Internal Age?

If you’re living in the USA, it means you have access to various biological age testing companies, with high tech labs and esteemed researchers. Unfortunately, for almost everyone else, we have to get tests on each biomarker which can cost over £1000. If you are serious about testing yourself immediately, just search the web for verified test kits, such as: mineral levels, vitamin levels, cortisol levels, hormone levels and blood sugar levels. Don’t forget that fitness watches measure your sleep, heart rate and breathing, which is extremely useful.

If like me, you want to get this all checked in one go, I would just wait a year or two until a regulated, biological age testing company is available in your region. That way, you can have medical professionals’ asses the best course of action to take, Instead of guessing it all yourself and possibly wasting a small fortune, as well as your time.
